Meetings on the East side of the state

Do you plan to have any meetings on the east side of the state in the Spokane area?

Frank,
The biggest problem in moving the meeting location is that no matter where you hold the meeting, some folks won't or can't come. We have a member in your area that has driven over. You might think about a car pool idea. Maybe take off that Friday and fish over here.
Speaking prematurely, there's always the chance of another MI Chapter starting up in your area.
Also, you do not have to attend the meetings to be a member of NW Tiger Pac.

There has been some talk of having a fish-in kind of meeting on the east side sometime. We think that sounds like fun and hope all you east side muskie fisherman and fisherwomen think that would be fun too. Maybe you all could help organize one since you know your lakes better than we do and would know the best place for all of us to descend on for a weekend meeting/fish-in. Some place that didn't have outrageous motel/cabin rates would be great and much appreciated. It would be alot of fun to get together and have a meeting that way.

Hey tollefs! Count us two in, too. I'd love to fish Silver and Newman.
We know there are some real serious musky hunters over on your side; it'd be great to meet 'em.
Maybe we could even get that "muskie guy" to surface... ?

How bout it, Scott, help us put together a group for a road trip to your side?

How's the fishin... should be hot coming up on the 11th and 12th.. been watching the moon, just like you said.

I will try to make it over there. Car pooling is a good idea. I do appreciate the postings of the meeting topics. I do like the idea of starting one over here if that is a option. I know of at least a few people that would be willing to join.

Thanks to all of you that replied. It is nice to know that there are others that are interested in the lakes on this side of the state as well. I usually don't post much about the musky fishing over here except for once in a while so people will not think that I am crazy for these muskies. Sounds like I am in good company. I have been fishing Newman and Silver for quite some time now but I think that the lake that has the best potiential for producing a record class fish on the East side is Curlew. That lake is loaded with pigs. It is definitly more difficult to fish in my opinion. Maybe some of us die hards could meet up there some time and maybe even dig up one of those 28-30 pounders that are swimming around in there.

I'd love to fish over there but I thought your question was about a meeting in the Spokane area. It's alot easier to get excited about driving for 6 hrs to fish than it is to drive 6 hrs to attend a meeting. Not that we couldn't do both.
Again, sure would like to see ya come over. I'll bet we could get you on the water in this area.

I do think the idea of an event of sorts on this (east) side of the mountains would be good. Doesn't even have to be a serious meeting, but a chance to get everybody over here together with some of the wet side folks would be great. Gettin later in the year now to plan something but even next year plan it for some nice weather in spring or summer. Who wouldn't want to come over here for a weekend of beautiful weather and big fish? I know I would be interested in an "event" on this side in the future.

Hey fellow Chapter 57 members! I have been M.I.A for some time, but I'm starting to see the light now and would love to have a first informal meeting for us east side guys and gals. I'd like to meet some of these folks that have been catching all them fish! Maybe wring a secret or two out of 'em!

KUP- If you'll send over those member packets I can hand them out and answer questions. What say you? You've still got my current address and cell number.

How about a location? I'm in Liberty Lake, sounds like this would be a fairly small group, doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just some place that can handle some serious b.s. ha ha!

We should definately plan a spring meeting up at Curlew. Good camp site, good resorts & big fish. I can get that going with the resort owners, see what kind of deals they will give us musky hunters. I don't know if it's too late to get a meeting together (at one of our east side lakes) that any number of west side hooligans could attend. The lakes are going to be slowing way down the next couple of weeks. But I wouldn't mind meeting up at Curlew with anyone, for any reason that involved muskies....

I'm not going to be able to attend any chapter meetings until November, most likely. But when I can, I wouldn't mind car pooling. As far as starting a chapter over here, I think we should test the waters first.

Count us in on a fishing / meeting in the spring. All we need is where and when. Don't have a camper or want to stay in a tent. Hope there is a motel or resort is close with facilities.

There are 3 resorts on Curlew that offer cabins. The one's I've stayed at are Tiffany's and Fisherman's Cove. They both have website's so you can check their prices and ammenities. They both have comparable prices as well.
The state camp ground is really nice for those people who might be "roughing" it. They have hot showers and nice restrooms, well maintained grounds and a friendly camp host. You can buy wood and ice from them too. A ranger lives there and keeps the yahoo's (like westside chapter 57 members) from getting too rowdy. It's got a good layout too.

Ha Ha about the 57's being rowdy! Wish you could be at the tourny this weekend. It should be fun.
Curlew sounds like a good place to meet. Jani says it is about a 7 hour drive for us wet siders so we'll have to plan on taking a 3 or 4 day weekend to do it. When is the fishing good at Curlew?

I spent a week at Curlew this August with my wife's side of the family. We stayed in a house that was listed on vrbo.com, it had a nice view of the lake, but no dock. We used the free boat launch at the state park while we were there and that campground is really nice and has a great picnic area. We drove through the resorts to check them out, and Tiffany's looks really nice and has great prices on the cabins (and is a site sponsor). If it wasn't such a long drive (especially with two kids) I'd definately make that an annual trip. The house that we stayed at had photos of the lake frozen over in the winter time, very scenic.
