centerpin/noodle rod suggestions?

I am currently looking to buy a new center pin or noodle rod that I will use specifically for free drifting eggs. I want a quality rod of course, within the one to two hundred dollar range.if anyone has a rod they love any suggestions would be appreciated!!! And no I can't afford the glx ha

LOL ya there are some beautiful EXPENSIVE noodle rods. I 'cheat' sometimes using a fly rod but the balance isn't right with the reel seat at the butt on fly rods. You can use a fly reel with lots of braid backing and then mono but casting is a pain in the butt so I usually wade into spot and settle in then 'plop' the eggs and let them drift. It works sometimes on small water. No way on big water. Oh, and it can ruin/bruise your hands and knuckles if a big coho rips you on the 1:1 gear ratio... I don't have a noodle either but it is on my list for the Holidays:thumright So I'll be watching to see what people have for input on this subject!

Well do you want a Center Pin rod or a Noodle rod, they are different.

St Croix has a few, want length are you looking at??

Thanks crw and I am aware they are different, but either will work excellent for what I need,i won't know which of the two styles I want until I see and feel a few of each, and price is obviously part of the detrmining factor any suggestions help

check out the shimano clarus center pin rod. it's a 13 footer an sportco has it for $109

Hmmm:-k , you didn't fish the Cow around Blue Creek and catch a Convergence downstream did you?

Donman unfortunately lost the same rod to the fish gods when a fish took it from his grasp (posted on other thread)... Looks like it may be a popular rod with fellow fishers. I'm gonna have to try one out and see if it is something I can hint to the Mrs as a holiday gift:cheers:

Brian i would wait for the sportsmans show and check out what they have. Usually lamiglas has a booth as well as fenwick so im gonna wait to see what i can get there.

i have a 10'6" caster (different i know) and it my absolute favorite rod, It will double over on a humpy but i can haul up 40" lings no problem. So if the spinning rods are as good, get one

Yeah I like to have a better fight with the fish. I use an 8'6 Field 'n' Stream. I can feel a fish smack it. I will be using it for salmon and steelhead. For steelhead I will more then likely be using a bobber and jig set up. Salmon will be corky and yarn most of the time. My 8'6 is my only rod I have for salmon. And this will be my first year targeting steelhead, if they hit softly then a noodle rod would be a good choice.

I got a 10' 6' okuma sst that works great for drifting eggs. Been my goto rod this year. It's a little cheap, at 60 $ where I got it, but something like that would be good. Outdoor Emporium has some great deals on Lamiglass rods right now, I got my new 9' 6" XMG 50 at more than 100$ off.
