Merwin Tiger Muskie Tourney Lands 17 Legal Muskies! New Pictures Added!

Post by KUP » Sat Aug 21, 2010 6:05 pm

Just got a report from Merwin: 17 fish were caught and released today by Chapter #57 Members.
What a hawg fest!
jigman caught 8 tigers, with a total of 267 inches. Yeah, I had to read that twice, too.[woot]
His son, John, caught the biggest fish of the day: a beefy 46 incher, which went arial[omg] .
Dan F. put 4 tigers in the boat OVER 40 inches. [woot] His biggest was 45.5 inches, which won the biggest fish cash prize because that Calcutta is optional and John did not put in for it. ](*,)
Mike F. put a nice 38 incher in the net, too. Miles lost 2 before he landed a healthy 38 incher.
bad esox brought a nice 36 incher alongside the boat and scooped her up,as well.
Bob M. caught and released a feisty 34 incher.
Special Merit: sparky1dog caught one, too, just shy of the 30 inch mark (has to be 30 to count for the Tournament)

They were seeing fish on both sides of the boat - 5 boats had 20 fish on. Has to be a new Chapter Record?
Congrats to all [thumbup] [thumbsup] [thumbup]

Of all the days I had to stay home sick....(bad airplane cabin air coming back from Spokane?](*,) [angry]

The Tourney was just one day, but it sounds like most of the crew is staying over for another try tomorrow;
Stay Tuned for more and pictures tomorrow!

Members who missed out on this tourney can still look forward to Lake Tapps on Sept. 11th- Our "Always Remember" Tourney. Check out the website by clicking on the banner at the top of the Muskie pages.

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:

Hello All,

I just returned home from Merwin! All I can say it was awesome! The stars aligned and the magic "Muskie Wind" blew in the right direction! The fishing was HOT!!!! The only thing that stopped us was the 4:00 P.M. cut-off time for our tourney! We caught 17 fish that counted for the tourney...lost a few more etc...making the total "hooked" over 20 fish! 6 fish over 40 inches were caught by just two boats... I was seeing Tigers everywhere still at 4:00 P.M.! Ahhh, but alas we had to quit at some point...All I can say it was one of the best days ever spent on the Tiger Waters of Washington State.

Four of the guys went out this morning to see if it was going to be a repeat of yesterday... I have not heard from them....yet, so I don't know how they did today. All I can say it was by far the best day of CATCHING Tigers that I have ever seen since I've been here! We've had those days where we've seen plenty of fish...but yesterday was a story all onto its own...unbelievable:cheers:

I don't know if we see another day like yesterday anytime soon, but we can hope we do! Remember, Practice "C-P-R" it is because of this philosophy that days like yesterday can happen for us all! Tiger Muskies, are a sterile fish need I say anymore...

Very cool!

Craig,

Thanks...It was truly an incredible day!

A few of the guys went out on Sunday also...but it wasn't a repeat of Saturday...only two fish caught...I think they were a 28.5" and a 30.5 incher...one lost...

I am anxiously awaiting Curlew  ...it should be a blast...

The Chapter 60 website looks great by the way. The "Do You Know What You Caught" is a great addition...and will be very, very important in the future of our fishery. Great job you guys!

See you in September!
