Topwater Bait Recommendations?

Good stuff,..cast along side weed beds and anywhere there is an open pocket in the cabbage,..vary your retrieve and hold on,..a lot of work though so be prepared 2 have some sore arms,..continuious reeling makes for a long day but the strikes make it all worth while!

Im just not sure about buzzbaits. They seem to big for the bass in that little pond. Are there any really small buzzbaits out there?

LOL,..Walmart has Sinlge~Blade~Buzz~Bait,..maybe a 1/4 oz,..that may work for ya!

I think they make 1/8th oz buzzbaits also, but I'm not sure. You can also wake an 1/8th oz spinnerbait. Or wake most anything if ya try, worm, grub, tube lures, etc.

I think it might help if I tell you a bit more about the pond. Its pretty small, lots of alge/grass/milfoil. Lilly pads everywhere. Its pretty calm usually. The bass really arent that big.

No way. I've seen some real dinks hammer my biggest buzzbaits. Dinks are dinktacular and will attack something as big as they are. I wouldn't be too worried about the size.

Ok. Im just very very new to topwater. I like Amx's idea of a floating worm. That sounds like it would work great. I did some looking around and found some nice buzzbaits that look perfect for that pond. I am going to make a trip up to auburn sports and marine and get some gear.

a bass's eyes are much bigger than thier stomachs. throw a bigger bait, don't b scared. u might find out there are some much bigger fish in there than u thought also.:thumright

I'm certainly no expert on bass,let alone topwaters but I've had some pretty decent catches on buzzbaits,frogs
and poppers. Poppers have been by far the best for me and color hasn't played to much of a factor.
Something about even a small bass splashing the surface is addictive. I've only recently been tossing topwaters on a
more regular basis,so my knowledge is certainly limited at best. Give the poppers a look,they've produced well
for me....if I can do it,well,anyone can:-#

Im getting my new baits saturday. Im fishing sunday. I will be sure to post a report and let you know how it goes. I will be getting some berkley floating worms, buzzbaits in various colors/sizes, and some rapala and rebel poppers. Thanks again (again again) for helping me out everybody!

Well I went to auburn sports and marine. Only got buzzbaits because they were out of stock on some other things. It was my fault for not calling first#-o. Should have gone to cabelas. Going fishing tomorrow, wish me luck!

That`s about the closest I`ll ever get to a Bass Pro Shop.

I honestly think auburn sports and sportco have a better bass selection than cabelas. It's tough to find a decent selection here sometimes since stores focus more on the salmon/steelhead side of the sport.

What time of day did you go fishing? Where on the lake did you fish and how close to pads, shore, emergent weeds, ect.
