potholes 7/16-7/19
so I'm heading over to potholes on the 16th to the 19th with a couple of buddys and i was wondering what everyone's favorite technique is for this time of year and where they like to fish? "I'm not looking for any secret spots" i know using plastics around the dunes is always a good bet. but I'm basically lost when it comes to fishing around the dam, rock pile and goose island. also does anyone ever fish the humps in front of the state park and up by crab creek? i normally fish for walleye there but i have caught a few large mouths out there also. any help will be greatly appreciated.

This time of year, I have had luck fishing the Dam with plastics as you mentioned and also in Lind Coulee with pointers and stick baits. Don't underestimate the jig in summertime as the smallies will eat it up. I'm sure there is life back in the dunes, but the last summer when I tried to run back there, I saw too many boats getting stuck and chickened out. Best of luck.

Just got back from there, i was in a float tube so didnt get to cover near as much water as I wanted.
Best suggestion is Early morn is best bite (be fishing as the sun rises)
My best luck this week came off of
Dropshotting a 3 in. worm in lind coulee area in about 15-25 ft
Blk jig casting up shallow and letting it "fall" off the first shelf, Lind Coulee as well
Those were the only techs. I picked stuff up with this time.
I have been going there every summer for years,
If you want to pick up largies throw a lippless crank in the dunes, 8ish ft
or a Deep diving and pound the bottom
A jighead and grub has always produced for me off the dam, just keep it out of snags
Good luck
PS. Found a decent amount largies on beds DEEP in the dunes, this was the day before all this hot weather, but you never know

thanks for all the help guys. i go a couple of times a year but never this late in the year

Yepp, the water is really high but the deep divers off of structure should do good if you can find it

The largemouth are really on right now in the dunes. Try jigs, creature baits, frogs and spinnerbaits. There were 5 limits over 20lbs. at the NW Bass tournament this past Saturday, and it took over 16lbs. to cash a check. I know a lot of guys a lot of there fish later in the day too.
