Puppy Dog Eyes

Post by racfish » Wed Jun 09, 2010 8:03 am

I was fishing Sunday on Lk Wa. down by Leschi.I had caught a few trout on a Vibrex .Nothing of any great size. All fish were released. I did happen to catch a big Squawfish.I could barely get it on the dock on my Ugly Stick. As I
am getting ready to cut open its belly and show this kid why we kill them. It had a belly full of small trout. In the meantime 4 lil kids were watching my surgical operation. One lil boy asked me."Mister? what are going to do to the fish". I said I was going to toss him back in so the crayfish will eat him. The lil boy was gonna cry ,I could tell. He asked me for the fish. I said sure you can have him.He tried putting the Squaw back together and tossed it back in asking me "will he live mister"? I said no probably not.I'm back to fishing and slam another Squawfish. I bring him up but this time the boy asked if he could have it whole? I said sure. By now I think its cute that he cares whether the fish is killed or not.So he takes the fish and lays it next to his box. After a few minutes the kid asks me,"mister I think he needs to go back in the water." I told him that it was his fish and he could do what he thought was right. So he tossed it back in.Normally I'm like Dr Frankenstien with fish but this lil boy caught my soft spot.Just thought it was cute.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
