Congrats to "Big Bass Dez"

Post by WCCT » Fri Jun 04, 2010 6:30 pm

I am excited to report that WCCT Pro-Staffer Hernandez Ruffin, aka "Big Bass Dez" is one of 10 anglers that qualified to fish the Bass Federation National Championship! Awesome job Dez! Also, Chris Ferry is the other Washington angler who qualified. Nice job Chris! Way to represent Washington!

It sounds like it was a really tough tournament as far as getting the keeper size fish. You know it's a tough time when a fish under 3lbs wins big fish! I haven't heard any reports yet, but I would imagine there were a ton of short fish caught. I also wanted to say nice job to all that competed for our state. I figured for sure that Mark Maderos would put a beating on those fish. He is pretty dang good on the smallmouth. Nice job guys!

After day 1 it was a small fish fest for most, the lake fished pretty small, being 20' out from shore it's 100'+, so in the bays and cuts most beds were picked off after day 1. They would replenish and the bigger cruisers were there if you could hook up. Congrats Dez, you da man, you should have seen him at the weigh in waiting to see the bags of the other Wa. anglers on day 3. very exciting.
