Opening Day! :bounce:

My absolute favorite holiday as a kid.
Nothing compared to it, and the anticipation leading up to the first cast on the virgin lake.

I have to work all weekend. But I can live off of some reports.

Who limited early?
Who caught a holdover?
Who caught a triploid?
Who caught something else they were not expecting?
Who left one cold lake, and went to a hot lake?
Who had the hot lure... and what was it??? :-#

i limited out at pine in about 30 minutes. released a few as well. caught one around three pounds the rest were all about 13 inches except one was 10. i got a good spot thats right on a drop off that always hold good trout. i was catching them faster than anybody else i saw. i did see a guy in a float tube catch one that was about 5-6 pounds. he was pretty proud of it as well lol.

I'm headed out right now. Going to be a long drive, but I decided I'm using the fly rod today so it won't be lights out, but it will be good fishing. I'll see you all later tonight! Can't wait to read all the reports and see all the pictures from today!

Right on. The night before opener Im gonna be...

Cleaning the boat,
Fueling the boat,
and packing the boat.

I'll also be...

Re-stringing a pole or two,
adding new spinners to the Okachobee,
and tying up a bucktail or ten.

We'll be at Wapato all weekend. I look forward to seeing you there. We'll be in a G3 with a little merc OB.

Wow, my thread from last year resurected! Thanks, Kevinb. We went to Wapato for the 4th year in a row. I wish I would have found this forum action before today so I might have looked for you Bodofish. We had two boats: an 18' bayliner with an inboard, and my 12' portaboat. Our fishing basecamp was on the west side, not far down from the north boat launch. We were hanging out with the folks who own the undeveloped land there, so we could park there and fish there too.

I need to get my full report up, but we did very well. Much better year than last year! Hope other WL.COMers slayed them as well.
==urban== please don't tell me to C&R or to fish your way, thank you

What? You forget my number?
This is not a fishing report!
All cookie cutters. Couldn't stand the anchor scene. Sat and Sun, put three in the boat each and went to selective gear. I got 23 and 30 to the boat respectivly and released all unharmed! 2 qts coffee each and I was feeling a bit like a bass fisherman dragging a worm through the water. Two monty #2's..... shshshshshsshsshshs from the isle de ..... Sunshine a little wind what a day. Put a couple more each in the bag and called it a day before two.
Yes it was an opening day to remember!

Highlites included:
Waiting at the launch for 45 minutes while some folks learned how to launch their pontoon party boat (excuse me, fishing platform, with obligatory salmon net).
Same folks tying pontoon boat to closest spot on the dock blocking the launch and leaving...... for breakfast??????
Same folks trolling at 8kts all day.
New bunch.... putting boat on trailer and parking at top of launch after removing all gear to dock and carrying gear one piece at a time to Landrover tow rig...........
Guy's testing G3 performance with new 25 merc jet. Yes it goes like stink! Slalom through the anchor crowd!
Guy with new CW playing rodeo in front of launch for extended period of time. I really wish his passenger would have pinched it off a little quicker! Three to four foot waves! Pulled one gal right off the dock trying to hold a boat.
All that aside a whole bunch of folks respectfully enjoying life to it fullest and having a great time smiling in the sun!
Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life!

Another bump,I love this thread.
Anyone heading out? I know some folks like to sit out for the opener due to crowds but I've come to enjoy it.

Nice! Good luck out there.
I suppose I should answer my own question.... I will be at Lake Kapowsin, working and fishing. I recently
picked up a very part time job at Erickson's. Just a little extra cash to support my heavy and out of control
addiction to fishing.

Good luck everyone!
