Possible New WA State Record for LMB - Caught by 10 year old!

I just saw on the news this morning that a ten-year-old boy fishing with his uncle with night crawlers and a bobber just landed what very well might be WA State's new record for bass.

Although it was just a short blurb on KOMO, the bass was caught with just 8# test and gave one heck of a fight. Ramiro Sanchez, the boy's uncle recalled seeing the line on his nephew’s rod moving to the side before bobber sank under the water's surface. After what seemed like an eternity, Ramiro grabbed his net and landed the bass.

"We were fishing for trout," he said, "but we're not complaining."

Mr. Sanchez took his scale to weigh the fish and he couldn't believe it. Being an avid bass angler himself, he knew that the state record was just about 12 pounds so he immediately called the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for advice.

"It is ironic that I spend so much money on expensive lures, rods, and reels to fish for bass, and even more to maintain my bass boat, and my little nephew hooks and lands what might be the new state record on a worm and bobber from the shore," Ramiro remarks.
