This is the fore runner of the Luhr Jensen troll speed indicator. No difference in the design other than a name.
I have 2 and sold the boat this one came off of. Sad part is I left the bracket on it. But the bracket is just a square aluminum with a threaded hole so with some tinkering could be adapted to any boat.
Comes with the lead down weight to measure across the water speed. Does show some use as the paint is chipped.
I use these for tracking speed in current when fishing since the GPS tells me how fast I am going but doesn't allow for the moving current.
Amazon has the Luhr-Jensen 70.00 and does come with all the paint and the bracket.

You can own this vintage original for 35.00 + shipping from Spokane
Sorry I have no idea how many fish this has helped put in the boat.

Pretty cool! Now if I just had a boat worthy of hanging it on.

What I use all the time (Luhr Jensen version). Could probably get a base from Luhr Jensen.

Re: Trolling speed indicator
How do you suppose they calibrated that originally? Way back when? Did they just take a boat on a calm lake and mark it? Figure out drag on the ball, measure the length of the arms? Perhaps as my wife says, I am overthinking this?
