OK, oil touched $44 this week. So what's your prediction on the low for 2008? I'm going with $38.77/barrel.

The person closest to the 2008 low will get some free stuff from our sponsors - post your prediction on your response.

What...free stuff?? :clown:

I was just looking at some numbers. I think the price will lose 3% or so per week until Christmas. Then gain about 3% of that back by New Years. So, I think it will drop another 2.50 before going back up.

$41.17/barrel.

wow, nice first day responses! I haven't even posted this on the front page yet.

One thing occurs to me, there are various grades and types of oil. So for this contest's purpose we will use the Jan 09 NY Mercantile quote - unless someone has a better idea of what to use. And the lowest price includes any intra-day trading, not the closing price. Here's today's close:

Crude Oil Jan 09(NY Mercantile: CLF09.NYM)
Last Trade: 40.81
Trade Time: 5:14PM ET
Change: 1.93 (4.42%)
