That is super awesome. Ton's of folks from my generation have been getting steady work at Boeing and this should provide longevity in the field, and help boost our economy.

I have mixed feelings regarding this announcement. It's great that Boeing won the contract, I'm just not convinced that the 767 is the best platform for the job. I would much rather have seen a newer airframe like the 777 or even the 787 be used and not some 30+ year old design.

The 767 is a start. Nothing says they can't go to the other aircraft. Beside, the 767 is proven, unlike ANYTHING airbus can come up with as they haven't done anything like this. They just aren't a reliable company. Try flying in an Airbus, then fly in a Boeing craft. Night and day in quality of assembley and noise level, etc.

And there is nothing wrong with the design, they HAVE been updated now and then. Look how many years the 737 has been produced.

I heard this tonight and will be applying again for boeing. I didnt want a dead end no paying job. And this could be the ticket. I cross my fingers and hope for a good reply to my app.

It really is not a "hell hole" good people, good benefits, good pay, and now good hours.... don't really see the downside.

ask any one who has worked there for 15 years... they all hate the place. to many different personality's, to many old farts that just wont retire and keep Fing stuff up, to many foreigners talkin trash in there own language and too many hens:cyclopsan i dont know anyone who gets hired and gets good hours(dayshift) most of the kids who got hired a year ago just got day shift. and they have to work every weekend because they only make 11:00 bucks a hour

great place if you can deal with the people, and the strikes:cheers: kept food on our table growing up

I spoke with my son who works at Boeing when I heard that the contract went to Boeing. He said that they all were very excited. He started there at 19 at the bottom and made manager at 24. He has a lot of burned out 40+ year old guys who work for him that he says are basically just going through the motions just doing enough work to keep from getting canned. In a big company with a lot of people there is a lot of opportunity if one is motivated and is willing to put in the work. Way too many guys that are making good money there moan and complain about the company but would never be able to replace their income if they went elsewhere. Yes there is a lot of hours involved when they are busy. But the financial compensation for those hours is well worth it. Invested wisely that equals a well funded early retirement.

My thoughts exactly. I have thought about going over to Boeing, but for now I am doing my best to make it in the fisheries field.

I've been thinking about seeing if they'll hire me back on. Been almost 7 years since I retired from Boeing and could use a little more money for awhile, say 5 years to fix up the 2 car projects I have and such.

What is that big plant they are building in Moses Lake? Is this somehow connected with this deal?

I forget, but composite stuff comes to mind. But that might be the one in Spokane a few years ago.
