My new ride and I'm back

Post by beerman1981 » Tue Jul 08, 2008 5:26 pm

Hey guys, I've been MIA for a few weeks, and I'm sorry. It's been a very crazy last few weeks. My wife and I were on vacation for a week on the coast, and I've been in Seattle off and on for my best friends wedding this coming weekend. I haven't had much time to log on here. I do have this to report though, my 1988 oldsmobile cutlass supreme finally got traded in for the following rig: 2006 toyota four runner, low miles, the right price and prestine conditions:cheers:

When my Oldsmobile lost it's brakes on I-5, I finally realized that it was time to trade the old girl in. She had a long life of nearly 200,000 miles.

The last picture is a black and white from the coast two weeks ago.

That is a good looking rig! My daughter bought a 4 Runner a couple of years back and absolutely loves it. She just moved down to the lower 48 from Anchorage. She told me that her truck would handle anything that an Alaska winter can dish out. You should be pleased with your new car.

You guys probably remember that this last winter Spokane got slammed with snow. I missed a week of work because with my 2 wheel drive 1991 F-150 couldn't get into a neighborhood on the south hill. That problem is now solved. Here is a couple of pictures of my new '08 F-150.

Nice wheels beerman. Good to hear from ya again.
Been catching anything lately?

Sweet truck Marc. Your crazy for picking that thing up with the $4+ gas prices. Hopefully they'll come down and you won't have to think about it. What does it get per gallon?

Call me crazy, but here is my philosophy, the American Auto Manufacturers don't need the nation running to all the foreign car manufactures. Now is the time to buy American. 80% of the parts and 100% of the labor on that truck is American. We as a nation have to start reinvesting in our country and stop buying the foreign made products. My wife drives a Honda CRV. Great little car, but I wanted a U.S.A. made truck.

I need 4x4 and an 8' bed for my work as a contractor. I am actually getting better mileage with this than my old '91 F150. The range is 15-20 mpg.

With about $4,000 off sticker price, I can live with it. I have seen this gas hike thing before in the 70's. The oil companies are pushing the edge of the envelope and they know it. If Washington can get the middle east calmed down, then the price of oil will drop. How much, who knows.

Beerman, great choice. You won't be disappointed. I have the Toyota 4Runner as well. It is the V8, gets 20 mpg, and tows both my boats effortlessly. It also handles very well in the snow in 4wd. The best thing about the Toyota vehicles is they will run forever if you maintain them and keep them serviced. Here is my 04.
