Hey guys....
I am looking for a good handheld GPS unit to take in the field with me when I go prospecting.
Must haves are color and quality up-to-date Topo Maps with a zoom in feature.
Expandable memory like with a mini sad card would be a real plus!
A larger screen would be nice but cost needs to be figured in too.
I think my max price would be around $250?
What are some of you using?
Which Handheld GPS Unit?

There may be an appropriate app for your phone. From a boating point of view I often use the Navtronics app and it works as well as any of my onboard marine electronics.

Thanks but I still use a flip phone....no app for that.
The unit will NOT be used in the boat....it is for when I go gold prospecting.
But thanks rests

Re: Which Handheld GPS Unit?
I bought a Garmin Oregon a few years ago. There are some things to learn in regards to maximizing battery life and making your own custom maps, but once I figured those out I've been really happy with it. I use it for fishing, hunting, hiking, geocaching, and general recreation. When I got it, I bought it for 50% off during the holiday sales at Cabela's which took it down to $250 at the time. I think the price has come down on them since then.
