Whats the story behind your screename?
When I joined, I couldnt think of any clever fishing related names. So I decided to make fun of Star Wars and changed Return of the Jedi to Returnofthefish. Theres some interesting names out there like Matt and Quadfather. Lets hear the stories.

Pescador is Spanish for fisherman. My wife is Mexican - we joke that she came here to seek fame and fortune, and ended up with a Gringo Pescador and a mortgage.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

RE:Whats the story behind your screename?
Long story short....
In my office I have a stuffed bear named Bearry (per the name on his fishing jacket it is William but somebody renamed him) who is holding a fishing pole. I have a plaque on the wall of a fish and pole, and a old wooden sign that has the words "Gone Fishing" on it.
However before all that happened I used the name Gonefishing as my tag name in the old newsgroups many eons ago. The user name has followed me to a few other sites that had nothing to do with fishing. And then came Washingtonlakes.com. I was going to one cranky fisherman if the name was taken but it wasn't so....

Gort is the alien robot in one of my favorite old movies, The Day the Earth Stood Still. It's a name I've used around the web for a while.

Toward the climax of the movie, he is stopped from destroying the Earth when given the command, "Klaatu barada nikto."
He's kind of a badass, like me. (I guess this is only funny if you know I am very much NOT a badass.)

Yes Matt definitely has one of the more colorful handles.
I often mispell words and use the worng won at times plus my typing sux.
So somehow knotabassturd was created. Honestly though, I'm not. Or at least like to think so.
I blame the typing mistakes on the single malt and early onset senility/geriatric twitch .

"Its the coming back, the return which gives meaning to the going forth. We really don't know where we've been until we've come back to where we were. Only, where we were may not be as it was, because of whom we've become. Which, after all, is why we left." -Bernard Stevens Northern Exposure

826 moto because my kid races motocross and that was his number
RE:Whats the story behind your screename?
A9 = Marine Area 9, referring to the saltwater marine area in north/central puget sound. Possession, Double Bluff, and Pt no Point are no further than 10 minutes from the house by boat, so thats why I fish this area so often..Will also see me in Area 8-2 and 10 but its tough to venture far when the boat is moored out front....
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

I raced a 72 vega dragster for 6 years. The number was mine during racing.

Quadfather - Your name made me think of the Godfather movie and quads
Gort- Mort from Family guy pops in my head when I see ur reports. Good to know its a robot
Gringo - Very unique name, made me wonder where it came from
knotabassturd - clever and funny name
Matt - your name is just plain epic
Others have cool stories behind thier name as well. Some members have names are self explanatory such as fishenfreak, elijah loves fishin, bassinbomber and fishingmachine.
If I could have used a different name, I am not sure what it would be. People at work like to call me King Brown Trout becuase of the brown king I caught at the Puyallup a few weeks ago. Thanks for the input everyone, its been an interesting read

When I was growing up I would always manage to catch Sculpin when fishing for fish that were definitely not Sculpin. After a long hiatus I took my wife out fishing for Perch in Lake Washington and what was the first fish I caught? A freaking sculpin. I decided I should just live with the fact that I am the Sculpin King.

Hahahaha! My name is my name without a space. Because it wouldn't let me put a space in it. Or I didn't think it would. But apparently it would, so now I'm stuck with it without a space. I find it hard to remember names and passwords, so I keep mine simple. Besides, it's nice when I'm out on the river and people yell across, what up nate! nate TREAT! And we realize we're friends but never met. And then I don't end up with nick names like "skinny" "nate dog" or "nasty nate" which ALWAYS happens. I don't mind, but it's hard to keep track of 'em.

Yo Nate, remember last year on the Green River I was like "Did you just call your dog Jack, as in Jack Bauer?". Next time I see you, its going to be NateNasty. hahanatetreat wrote:Hahahaha!
