Northwest Fishing Reports

I was looking at the 5/20/07 lake wilderness report by fishin masta. I don't believe it had a pic when it was first posted and now there are 2. Was I blind the first time I read it or is there a way to add to or edit reports after they have posted?

I can edit my forum posts but not the reports after they post.

You cannot edit/delete Reports after they are posted but you CAN send me pictures and I will attach them to the report manually.

Awe 10-4 I was just wondering. Thought I might have been loosing it.

I gave some thought to adding that functionality but there are things about it that concern me... we edit EVERY report before it is live and the thought was that we would lose this ability if people could edit the reports. While typing this up, however, I did think of a way we could change that. If edited reports were marked as NOT approved after editing or uploading of pictures we could, in theory, implement this ability. The report would idssapear from the site until we re-approved it. I like this... it would give people a chance to post a report and then deal with adding pictures later or adding something they forgot.

That sounds good to me I know there have been a couple of times I would have really liked that. I spelled a friends name wrong once, wow was that embarrassing.

I can think of one problem.... a lot of the reports sent to us are completely unpostable. We want the reports to be readable... by everyone. A lot of them are not. I wouldn't want to have to keep editing reports again and again and again because the user and I are "fighting" over grammar. Quite a few of the reports come in like this:

"got to the went fishing at x lake 3. oclok to 4;00am cought alot (notice alot.. alot is not a word...) of fish (did not mention what kind) me and my buddy biff (you mean my buddy and I?) cought 7 each pwerbiat; on dock goodluck tight lines"

No spell check. No punctuation. No grammar. No thought put into it at all. When I receive reports like this I often let them sit there for a long time and approve all the others that don't need editing. I realize that not everyone has the gift of grammar but it's almost as if there isn't a spell check on the page... ;)

Now look what I've done. I've taken a nice forum post about editing and posting options and turned it into a rant.

The point is I'm not sure if Mike and I have the time to RE-edit posts.. but I'll toss the idea around.

I can definitely see your point.

my two bits - we can spend our time re-editing posts or we can spend it adding content and new enhancements to the site. I'm guessing most readers would rather have us do the second.
