Spammer

Post by chefjake99 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:31 pm

Looks like this guy "dresteDex" is spamming the hell out of this site. Joined less than an hour ago and has over 40 posts with suspicious links. [cursing]

Thats what happens when Mike and the crew blink. With a site this size there are probably several hundred atempts daily by wierdos from all over the world trying to spam. They do a pretty good job, should be all mopped up by the mods in a few minutes

Ya, well Big D banned a few last night, as he's done the last couple weeks. I've banned a few also. Big D deleted 47 posts last night alone. I banned 1 person today and I just got out of bed and am busy already  and Occumbarefera is one of them and a couple/three of his posts. Now on to check all the other posts from overnight. Thanks guys for your monitoring and "Cleaning up" the site.
Looks like it was the morning for nutjobs to come out of the woodwork.
Keep up the awesome work, and know it is greatly appreciated.

If one can believe their profiles, Scandinavia, mostly. I guess there is not a lot to do when daylight is limited to a few hours per day.

When I was running a forum for our club, I was amazed at the number of bs accounts and posts. I had to switch to "By Approval Only" for new members.

They just plug what ever BS they want into a program that usually has a list of IP addresses and let the computer do all the spamming for you.

Aaron had to turn off a feature that is used for signing up. He'll be restarting that feature soon. Along with a couple other bugs that will be fixed. New software ya know.
