Slightly bigger avatars?

Post by A9 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 2:15 am

I mentioned this earlier, and since the new update is on the way, I figure it might be a good time to pose the question again...

Could our avatars be expanded in size just slightly? It's difficult to see exactly what some peoples avatars are, and I have good vision...

And like before Sam Kafelafish, I think for you the answer to a bigger avatar would be "NO" because then your mug would be bigger and we have to look at it. j/k
Just a little bit bigger though. Not too big. I know of some forums were the avatar is so big it takes up a third of the page. Waste of space if you ask me. The meat is in the post, not the avatar. With that said, some on here are a bit unclear, wether it's pic quality or size.

I would like to be able to click on the picture to enlarge it like we do on other photos.

Sam is constantly changing his avatar. I want to be able to see what he looks like so if I pass by him on the street I can snap to with a sharp salute.:salut: :salut: I don't want to face a court martial for gross insubordination 8-[

Pretty soon he will have two blue flags on his front fenders of his car with 5 stars on each.

I like the idea of enlarging it also. Didn't think about it....but it would work great..

They should be larger, 30% larger and (IMO...posting your face up is at your own risk, as this information is available to the whole world)...

It is fun to see other members. I saw Kzoo at Newport boat launch on Lake Washington last year. I liked his boat. Once I get a picture with a monster fish maybe I'll put my mug on hear for a short while.

Avatar increases in the 30% range would do justice. They're just way too small right now for anyone to see anything.

I don't think the avatars need to be any bigger. They're perfect, but the idea of clicking on it or running across it with your mouse to enlarge it would be a better idea.
As far as knowing what someone looks like (and what they're about), this was my idea behind the New Members Introduce Yourself thread in the Announcements Forum. Post up a picture of your ugly mugs so people know who you are. Just an idea. Plus your avatars shouldn't be the most important thing here, it should be the contents of your post.

That I do agree...but I would warn innocent people on posting pictures of themselves on a world-wide-web, because images can be copy and pasted and saved on any computer and then used against you (I would know...yikes)...but I like the idea of scrolling across and having the avatar increase in size or being able to click it and get a 50% larger view. Good idea.

True, but I regularly chase my avitar and I don't go to your New members introduction thread (great idea BTW, it's always one of my fav's to look back at) and repost my response with my new avatar...
