Notifications - How?

I'm new here and it looks like a fun crowd, I've had a sh*t season so far but I like being able to vent on here with some fellow fishermen.

One thing I am unfamiliar as far as features go - is how to set up notifications so when someone replies (comments) to your "report" or "forum post" it'll notify you? Does that happen automatically or is that something I missed while checking the notifications check boxes.

click on your name where it says: 'welcome---yourname"

click on 'board preferences'

click on 'edit notification options'

fill out/check off as you want.
