GPS

Post by Hunter757 » Thu Jun 02, 2016 5:36 am

Mike and Arron, not sure if it can happen or not but I always seem to read a report and wonder where is this lake. Point in question Mike just did a report on Conconully Lake and I have no clue where this is. I can open google and search but maybe it would be more beneficial to all if there was a way to put GPS map locations in the report header or? Like you see on WDFW launch there is a link to google maps fly to here link.

Anyway not sure what other members think maybe just being lazy? Just another feature that might help others find the lake and the launch at that lake. I always see reports on the Columbia river and videos from there and wonder for a guy like me who has never been there where is the closest launch and how do I get there. I am sure not an easy code to write who knows? Just my 2 cents.

Tight lines and a BIG thank you for a great form!!

If the lake has Hotspots shown in the report, you can zoom out on the map and see where it is.

Other wise. if you look right below the written part of the report you will see a link to: 'Read All Reports'. Click on that and then look near the top for "View description, Maps, etc". That link will take you to a map showing the location and talking about the lake.

Its a bit tedious, but it works.

I like the idea of a direct link to the location right in the report though.

Eric, I probably know my way around a computer better than a motor.

The easiest way is to use the Lake Index. Next to the link to read reports for each lake is an Info link that leads to all the info about the lake.

Thanks Aaron I had seen the link before never clicked it till yesterday. I never go to that page so that would explain why. I always use the latest reports page first to see what's new with my morning coffee. lol, Toni....

Aaron and I suspect there is a lot of information on the site that people have no idea is there. The new site will hopefully be easier to find all these extra features. For example, the lake/river/saltwater index page will incorporate more of the maps, historical data reports, etc all on the one page.
