Knot Tying
Knot Tying
So I am always looking to tie the next best knot, and looking at different sites etc. Thought maybe a place here we could all share tips, what works good, what doesn't, video's, for spin cast, fly casting, etc? Whadda think?

Re: Knot Tying
That would be cool. If I'm not running bait, which would require a bait loop, my favorite knot at the hook has been the Palomar. I feel that it's been the strongest for me. At the swivel for my leader I used the improved clinch. Then where my main line meets the swivel, I use a Palomar there as well.
Re: Knot Tying
I like the idea... I'll add it to my list of to-do's for the next site revision.
Re: Knot Tying
Cool! I briefly practiced the palomar last season at the end, and now have completely forgot how to do it!!! So a one stop shopping would be great!!
Re: Knot Tying
Here's a good guide for the Palomar. Super strong knot and very easy to tie.

Thanks!
Also, I guess this wouldn't have to be strictly know tying, but gear set ups, rigging, etc.....a general how to thread. I know a lot of threads get way laid by wanting to know particular setups......Good place to condense down to.

Give us an idea of specific rigs you would like to see, we can make a "101" video of it like we did these..FlyGirl wrote:Thanks!

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker
Re: Knot Tying
Thanks for the offer! I didn't have anything in particular in mind as far as set ups.....It was just a thought to broaden out the idea.......

No love for the Jansik special?

I use this to tie gear to my 12 lb mono leader. Super strong and very easy to tie. With mono, you can even go with two loops through the hook eye instead of three.

Re: Knot Tying
I just ran a bunch of tests with Palomar & Jansik Special. Using 12 lb Maxima Chameleon, the Jansik Special beat the Palomar 10-0.
Half the tests were steady pulls, and the other half were pulsed.
The palomar is still my #1 choice for braid, but I'll stick with Jansik for mono.

Re: Knot Tying
I use this knot when using larger diameter line, find that I have more failures with the 6lb or smaller line. But for 12 or 15 it is awesome, best part is it is easy.HillbillyGeek wrote:No love for the Jansik special?

Nice! Have never seen that knot. I'm gonna try it. And you're right, that's easy!
