Incomplete River Database

Post by Corpsvet » Sat Aug 25, 2012 2:25 pm

Just got in from fishing the Quilcene River mouth and upper and was anxious to submit my report, however, under Jefferson Co. the Quilcene isnt listed, nor is its mouth listed under fresh or salt water (Hood Canal).

Eating crow. Just noticed the disclaimer stating, of course, the list of rivers, creeks, etc. is not complete. I'm embarrassed just a little. I'll email WR and have it added. Since I'm here, here's a quick report- The mouth is active. Sight fishing is great. Fished several hundred yards out from the wetland edge and let the incoming tide chase us all the way back (approx 2 hrs) Schools moving often. Saw a dozen come out...I give it a 3 for this morning. I could be wrong but I think you need both fresh and salt water to venture the mouth from Hood to wetland.

The Big and Little Quilcene rivers are in our system and show up in Jefferson county when creating a report. They do not come up if looking for or sorting by "Q", but they are there.
