Moderating can be a double edged sword. If a mod takes an aggresive action then they can be accused of heavy-handed moderation. If a mod does not do enough then they may not been seen as capable of holding a mod position.

With that being said, I locked the thread for three reasons: 1. I was at work at the time and I really couldn't spend a whole lot of time on the thread. 2. I wanted to delete the thread but then Mike wouldn't have been able to see the offending thread. 3. I wanted to let the offending poster see that his post was not appropriate.

If we had had a place to move the thread off the main forum to without deleting the thread I would have done that. We (mods) now have a place to move questionable threads to, thanks Mike!.

I didn't see the mentioned post also. From what I understand it was totally inappropriate. Posts like these show up, like you said very late at night. They are usually made by people who don't have a life and are surfing the web.
Mike and the moderators are now working on ways that we can "net these birds" as they fly by much faster.
If you see a totally inappropriate post, immediately send a PM or e-mail to the moderators. I think this was done in the recent mentioned post. We can move the post instantly to a moderators forum for review.
We deeply appreciate all the help from the members. Like Mike has stated, "it is the members that make the site." It is a big forum and is a lot of area to cover for just a few people.

Especially when it comes to those threads that get rather heated. Emotions run high...people start getting accused of censoring, blah, blah, blah. Takes quite a bit of patience to maintain a neutral position so moderation can be effective and fair.

I must have missed the thread y'all are talking about. I guess I'm glad that I did. With that being said, let me talk about our Moderating Crew. I am very happy with the job they do and the decisions they make. Not only are they great moderators, but they are super posters, too. Good job and Thanks! CAV

He's had me running around 10 different threads today (no exaggeration). Luckily I was able to mop it up and slow him down before too many members saw it.

That's too bad...

I've seen that a couple other times...that's if it's a "friend" logging into their account. People really need to keep their stuff a bit more secure or knock their friends' heads together. :silent:
