I added three more pike to my total bringing me to 33 for the year. We passed on Saturday because of the wind and opted for a wet day yesterday instead. It rained pretty much all day with short breaks here and there. fish were 26-27" and bit on the frogs again in 3-5 feet of water. Main lake temps have dropped since last weekend and we only saw 56 degrees there along with 59 in the chains. I managed to miss three fish that would have easily been my biggest of the year. They were all 30" + but they don't count if yo don't touch the leader. :)

My two brothers and I have had pike on our bucket list forever. Thanks to a lot of help and advice from Mark, my brother Ken finally got to scratch pike off his list yesterday! Dave and I are still looking to get our first one all the way to the boat. We have both hooked and lost several over the last two days in Coeur d'Alelen. Mark has given us all the tools and advice to get the job done. We just need to actually do what he has suggested - correctly.

We are heading out again early tomorrow to see if we can do a little tiny bit better. We have two more days here, so we still have hi hopes....... :)

A slow day Saturday only allowed me to add one more pike to my total. I'm now at 34 for the year. Nothing big. My buddy did catch a nice 6 1/2 pounder, and we got a couple of large mouth.

Just got back from my trip to Last Mountain lake, Sask. Had a good trip but not a great one as the weather was pretty crappy and the lake was 3 feet lower then it normally is. But I still managed to get 49 pike and set some new records for myself . I got a 43 1/2" pike my longest ever and the pike weight calculator says it should weigh 22 lbs. I landed 19 pike the last day, the most ever. I landed my biggest and first carp ever, it was about 25 pounds and I snagged it in the tail on a spinnerbait, What a BATTLE that was!!!!!! Also got my biggest walleye ever as about 4lb. So besides the 43 1/2" I got a 40" , a 39" two 38"s and a bunch from 37" to 34" The wind ketp us off the main lake some but the fishing in the marina was great so it didn't hurt too much staying on shore.
so I landed 4 more Pike before I went to Last Mountain lake and 49 up there, so that puts me at 80 fish for the year so far.

My biggest of the trip

Nice going Rick. I tried fishing from shore at the marina last year and never got a bite. Looks like you got some beauties.l

4 more pike yesterday brings me to 38 for the year. Nothing big again. Biggest was about 27". The wind was a pain making it hard to fish the weeds the way we would have liked to. Fish were caught on frogs, spoons and spinnerbaits.

Had a wonderful "Memorial" pike weekend with son and grandsons in the land that respects pike--CDA, Idaho. I picked up 8 bringing my year's total to 9. The best was 31"x9lbs. A nice fighter. One 9 yr.old grandson got his best ever 5 lb pike. Then next grandson tied into a toad. Stripped line several times, around the boat 2 times, me under the prop getting the line free, and netting a 33" x 16" girth x 17 lbs! He was thrilled. Exciting times for everyone. Bass lovers don't know what they are missing. "There ain't nothing like pike fishing, nuttin like it!"

Sounds like you had a fun trip. Can we assume you were fishing the main lake?

Nice going!

3 pike in the boat yesterday brings me to 41 for the year. Lost a couple of ten pounders at the boat. Damn it!!!!

Stay tuned next weekend for possibly better results. I did locate more fish but they were only interested in following the lures to the boat. Maybe next weekend they will be hungry. One of those newly located fish was 15lbs+.

I'll be back!

I've found that using a net works better than just "touching the leader"....ha, Just kidding. Its nice to find those bigger ones. They really add to the excitement of pike fishing.

So headed to Mont. this weekend for a 2 day Pike tourney at Noxon.
I have not only never fished it I have never even seen it, so if any of you guys know the water any tips on where to go and any patterns that would work this time of year would be greatly appreciated. Hope to put my pike count over the the triple digit mark this weekend and land one bigger than the one I got in Canada.
