meeting for possible Pike club in Washington

Post by YJ Guide Service » Mon Jan 16, 2012 8:59 am

I heard that North Idaho Pike Club is holding a meeting Sunday January 22nd @ 1pm in Coeur D'alene Idaho at the Iron Horse restaurant on Sherman Ave. Anyone interested in participating in this chapter please attend. The more people that show support for this the more chance it will happen. Good fishing eveyone...Power to the Pike

They are going to discuss the possibility of adding a second chapter to their club that is based in Washington. This is not a done deal just looking into the possibilities. But if we can start a second chapter of their club it would be a lot cheaper then to start a new club.
I talked to Bob Volz (The Pres. for the N. Idaho Pike Club) for quite a while the other day and he was interested to see where this would go. I think this is the best shot at getting a Pike club going that is based out of the P.O. River. I also found out that they will be doing tournaments after all on the P.O. River this year. They had canceled all tournaments on the P.O. because they said Fish & game was not going to issue any permits for them, but I guess that has changed now. So hope anyone that wants to join in on getting a possible Pike club started in Wash. needs to show up at the meeting at the Iron Horse next Sun. If we could get a show of hands so to speak, for how many guys are willing to make the trip to go talk to them. I will be there if we can get at least 4 to 5 guys that say they are planing to go also. So if Craig and I go, three more would make 5 and that would be enough I think, but the more guys that show up the better.

I am planning to go to this meeting. Unless I forget. My memory is not what it used to be.

Do what I do I put stuff on my cell phone so it goes off when something I don't want to forget is coming up.
I set mine to go off Sunday at 11AM that gives me enough time to get ready and get there.
I will be there and I sure hope a few more of you guys that are serious about pike fishing will show up as well.

Well I did go to the North Idaho Pike Association meeting. I was the only one that was there, which didn't do much to show them that the folks in Washington were very serious about getting a club started.

The general opinion was that they would welcome us into their club with a new chapter that was based in N. E. Washington. From what Bob Volz said (the Pres. of that club) it would cost little to nothing to get this going. We just need enough people that want to be active in the club.
They also voted to deduce the cost of a membership into the club for all members (new and old), as well as reduced the cost to fish in club tournaments. Both of those would go down by $10, so the membership fees for a year would now be $60 per team of 2, and the tourney fees would be $40 per team in each club events. They did this by getting rid of the points fund and they will now be fishing just for trophies and the fun, not the cash that was given out at the end of the year. Each team has a captain and all points and tournament money is given to them to divide with his partner. There are no individual tournaments. The captain may fish alone, but has to pay the team price. They do NOT hold monthly general membership meetings, They have monthly board meetings and hold a general membership meeting at some of the tournaments during the year. They were also interested in supporting Pike Management in the P.O.

So if you guys are serious about starting a Pike club this is on option that might get it off the ground soon.
What's the general opinion here ? Does anyone else want to pursue this?

If you have any question ask and I will try to answer if I know it, if not I can steer you to Bob to answer them.
