I was fishing the lower river off of Norman road last evening and after an hour went up to the car right after scumbag was pulling his hands and my GPS out of my broken window. He is riding in a green Pontiac minivan, plate number 579 VLK. White male 5'9", 180 pounds. I followed them into Stanwood, where he jumped out of the car and came at me with a knife. LE is looking for him. Same old stuff around here, can't park anywhere and go fishing without a good chance of getting broken into.

That really sucks, glad you got a license #, he's going down! To bad about the window and GPS, car
prowls are up everywhere. Thanks for the warning.
In the Fishing Discussion section under freshwater, there is a thread which is running posts of where
people have been broken into or had vandalism at some of the boat launch sites.
Please post yours there also we will all be safer!

When he gets caught, make sure they charge him with assault as well, that will keep him off our streets for a lot longer. With the plates if LE wanted to do their job it should be a no-brainer picking him up. Sorry about the theft, but way to go on the quick thinking. We've got to keep these lawless @!*&$(*&( in check.

Sounds like that's a good place to set up a bait car and hang out with a Tazer!

Dude's about to stab you to death and you have the RIGHT to shoot. If you're life is in immediate danger do whatever it takes to get out.

Besides the obvious, I carry a shovel. We seem to hear in the news "body discovered in a shallow grave." Dig the hole deeper! Even a crack head's family has the right to sue in a justifiable homicide. Why take the chance?
Either avoid the confrontation all together or take it all the way. Personal choice. In this case, I think whiskeybudder did the right thing given the circumstances. ID'd the perp, lic number, report to authorities, whiskeybudder isn't injured physically. He lives another day to fish and doesn't have anything to regret. Taking a life is easy enough, living with it is something else entirely.

And you DON'T need a 'conceled pistol license' to carry open.

just to get in a auto, but I believe if you are going fishing or other outdoor activities that are similiar you don't need a CWP.I would have to check on that again but I just use my CWP.

If you are in a vehicle, and the firearm isn't on your person, it has to be in plain view.
Then there is the 'loaded vs unloaded' status of the firearm as far as putting it in the trunk or someplace hidden.

You are correct:
RCW 9.41.060 Exceptions to Restrictions on Carrying Firearms.
The provisions of RCW 9.41.050 shall not apply to:
(8) Any person engaging in a lawful outdoor recreational activity such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or
horseback riding, only if, considering all of the attendant circumstances, including but not limited to whether
the person has a valid hunting or fishing license, it is reasonable to conclude that the person is participating in lawful
outdoor activities or is traveling to or from a legitimate outdoor recreation area;

Honestly, I've been waiting for someone to try and pull this BS on my rig so I can tell them what's what. I've been a law abiding citizen for too long, I could really use the opportunity to release some of this pent up energy I have for thieves and crooks. I, and all ya'll on the forum work hard to EARN what we have. Some low life comes around thinking they can up and take that away because they know how to smash glass they got another thing coming. There is almost nothing that irritates me more than undeserving trash taking what's not theirs. Except for people talking about my woman. That really puts me in a bad mood.

Open carry sends a message but a shovel upside the head will leave a mark. Just thinking about the sound of the back of a shovel to the head of some low life makes me smile. WHONGGGGG!
