Thanks KUP for posting those pics. Thanks Dez and Fishnislife for your help and support. Thanks Dave, Matt and Dan (I owe you a coffee mug!) for your help as well!

Another fun event. It was fun meeting new face, and I missed some old faces from previous picnics that weren't able to make it. Next year maybe we'll have twice as many people if everyone can make it at once - that would be cool.

Beautiful day at Lake Tapps and I think we found a great location for the event. It was very convinent for the boaters and wasn't near as crazy as I expected.

I'll post an article later with pics/and/or video.

Very nice and awesome pics ... looks like all had a great time.
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

So here is a run down of my day:

Catch lots of small bass
Catch 1 small perch
Step on Dilberts $99 fishing rod (Don't worry, it didn't break)
Show up and win Perch Derby $100 prize. Thanks Mike!
Win the grand prize raffle drawing (Rod and Reel)
Dilbert casts with the rod I stepped on and the tip breaks off. (Right where I stepped on it too)
Buy Dilbert a new $99 replacement rod.
Run back to the boat launch (allen Yorke) and run out of gas in the middle of the lake because I forgot to fill up this AM
Use 48V trolling motor on high to make it back to the launch
Get a few gallons of gas from a friend
Drain the starting battery down while trying to restart the boat
Move the motor connections to a trolling battery and find they are drained too...
... See where this is going yet...
Have to call the wife and admit that "I need her help"
Drive back to allan yourke to get the trailer
Drive back to North County Park to pick up the boat ( and pay launch fee)

Needless to say quite the memorable event and day. I had a great time meeting folks, and I hope to defend my perch fishing title next year.

The official big bass was 1.14. The unofficial (i.e. not weighed because I forgot a scale) bass was around 3 lbs. Both anglers were awarded $100 prizes.

yakawop big bass

it's all good though. A very fun day. I actually got kinda sunburned from the 3 hrs of afternoon sun.

2000subaru - "Perch King". LOL you should add that to your sig line. :king: You had an interesting day to say the least.

Ya, well it was kinda cool running to the first fishing spot in the morning, so I only was going about 40 mph, they didn't have a console to hide behind the get out of the wind, I felt kinda sorry for them --- NOT, so I sped on up to 50. Image

Mike, thanks for the great picnic and casting comp. My daughter had a great time and was thrilled just to get up there and toss a fly at the rings. The great reward for her was the confidence it builds for a future fisherman that just happens to be a girl. She now has bragging rights with her 2 brothers whom are good fisherman. She will proudly wear the WA. Lakes.com tee shirt as she fishes in the upcoming Mayfield Open (Tiger Muskie). It was good to meet those I read online and yak fishing. Glad I'm bringing flyfishing into the Pike/Muskie/Bass scene, not that its new just rare around here. Keep up the great the work with this site.:nemo:

Hi Mike,

I just wanted to say thanks to you for putting on such an enjoyable picnic and for all that you do to make this such site a great place for so many of us to talk about and enjoy the great sport of fishing. I also wanted to say thank you to your wife Joann for her support and her kindness. You both give so much and ask for nothing in return. To all of my fellow members, I wanted to tell you all how much fun I had meeting you and putting names with faces. Unfortunately we had to leave right before the food was served so I'm sorry I missed what I'm sure was an entertaining afternoon. It's my hope that I will eventually see some of you out on the water in the future and at next year's event. Until then, I wish you all a safe and fun summer.

Dave

Unfortunately Tapps is not known for it's Lunker Bass program. :-({|= Plenty of 1-2 pound fish available for the catching, not so much with the 3-4's. Although Cole did pull a 7 LB largemouth earlier this year.

Back when I last fished Tapps in '89 or '90, I only caught Largemouth. At the derby I lost a solid 5 pounder Largie when it got wrapped up under a dock on the upper cross beams, and then dived down to the bottom cross beams and broke off. But it was CLOSE to being in the net.

:pale: Sorry man. I played the scenario over and over again in my head my entire drive home. All I could do was say damn and shake my head. I own you $106 bucks Tom.

Great day, good people and good food. Just add water and you have the perfect mix. I feel bad for those that didn't make it out to the event. See ya next year.

I say for 2011 we go for 40+ members at the Extravaganza.

More pics please!

I know there were more than just KUP's camera there. I have to prove to my wife where I was allllll day. :geek:

Image Na. It was just one of those things that happen when the fish doesn't want to cooperate. I probably could have done a better job of keeping her away from the dock.

Here is Le'Roy's (yakawop) unofficial winning fish. Estimated to be bigger than those weighed in. And shared the big fish award with Trent. Both received $100. Only because Le'Roy's fish didn't get weighed and decided to go home a little earlier than Le'Roy would have liked. (Mike was not left with a scale for shore/yak/tube anglers) I blaim Dez.
