Re: Gear Swap Meet
Avoiding Seattle is a goal in my life (nothing personal, Seattle-ites).
I like to avoid the crowds, traffic, and parking issues.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Golden Gardens is in Ballard/ North Seattle next to the Ballard Locks. Huge beach and tons of parking.

Golden gardens is in Ballard right next to Shilshole bay. Only blackmouth fishing around there. Its saltwater Tom. Not even a great Salmon area unless its summer.
Re: Gear Swap Meet
What about the park at lake sammamish? Seems like a good area. I'll be coming with my trunks worth. Or at Silver Lake up here in lynnwood. Has a big park with tons of parking.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Tons of parking? How does one weigh the amount of parking available. Or do you mean total tonage of the actual weight of the vehicles parked there. . Samamish is good as any. The Lake always has something biting. It is an all around great lake to fish. Also its right off I90 which makes finding it a real ease.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Is there a covered area at Sammamish? I don't remember. I fish in rain, snow, sleet, hail, volcano ashfall, locusts, etc. But don't think I'd be interested in peddling old gear in it...

Re: Gear Swap Meet
There isnt any decent fishing at Shishole this time of year. There are some blackmouth (feeder chinook) but they are far and few between.
Re: Gear Swap Meet
Could give Gene Coulon Park as shot, there is a covered area with benches overlooking the marina. I think that you will find it necessary to request permission to have any organized gathering where goods are displayed, sold or traded in any park you choose.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Coulon is nice with newer facilities. Good choice. Im open to just about anywhere. Lets do one and see how well it pans out. It dosent have to be a one time shot.
Mike a question for you is can we use the Wa Lakes name on flyers and or some sort of banner/ sign? If we were to make a few fliers and hang one here and there we could attract other buyers of our stuff. Id be willing to print them up .Just a thought.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
So far I vote Sammamish boat launch area, or Lake Meridian Park. Coulon is WAY to expensive for my wallet. $20 plus to launch a boat. And I have a pass for Sammamish anyway.
No downtown city anywhere.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Another option is Flaming Guyser Park (if they still have the covered areas, haven't been there in years).
Maybe it needs to be the WaLakes Traveling tackle swap. Do one a quarter, each time with a new host in a new location.

Yup, south end, north end, middle end, east side, west side, and don't forget the eastern Washington continget. I wouldn't expect peeople to travel all the way across the state for a swap meet.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
Hey Gringo. There wont be any fishing happening around there if we do Flaming Geyser plus that is a long drive for anyone comming from anywhere. I still think Samamish or Meridian offers the best fishing to try out new gear. The river up by Geyser is snag heaven. Well purchase gear and lose it on the rocks. I dont remember seeing covered picnic areas there. If anyone lives near Sammamish go look quickly. I think there are covered picnic areas there. Fishing in the rain is one thing selling gear in the rain will be miserable. We want it to be accesable to other fishing people. Sammamish is really good for that. Very easy to get to.I will get there early to hold an area if needed.
If the weather is really bad I want dibs on the Wa lakes Motor Home to use for myself. Of course Mike and Aaron can use it too.

Re: Gear Swap Meet
ok, I'm attaching a pole to the start of this thread to get an idea of how many people are south sound, north sound, east, or other. Consider downtown Seattle to be the dividing line for north/south. Once we know how many want to participate and what general areas they are from we can zero in on details. So be sure to make your location known in the pole.

Not happening, now if it were mid-way, I might consider the 150 mile one-way trip, but any further just isn't worth it. Have fun guys!Amx wrote:I wouldn't expect peeople to travel all the way across the state for a swap meet.
