NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
'so someone screw the pooch on those listings'
Knowing my luck, I would be the pooch that gets screwed!
I think a call to WDFW would indeed be in order!
I would be rather safer than sorry.
I have oar lock mountings on the boat but no oar mountings. Needless to say - electric motor is what I have to move the boat.
I must say that you have been very helpful and courteous with my questions and queries. Thank you!!!

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Not bothering me at all!
We have a few internal combustion motors prohibited lakes in my area, one got a bit confusing because it was a lake where residents lived. So, you could use a motor to get to your cabin, but you couldn't fish with the motor under power.
I looked in the regulation and Kapowsin isn't listed as an internal combustion motor prohibited lake, but that doesn't mean there is not a motor restriction.
Many counties/cities/parks etc. have their own regulations regarding motors on the lakes. If you look just below the listing for Kapowsin you'll find Klineline Pond. While we don't have it listed as a non motor lake, the county doesn't allow boats of any kind on the water.
I'll find out tomorrow and if it is a mistake on the website, I'll contact our web guy.
I'll try and reply as soon as I get word!

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Ever since I`ve fished it it`s been no gas motors. If I`m not mistaken it`s posted at the launch. I don`t know who would want to have a gas motor out there. There`s a 98% chance your not coming back with a prop motor or boat. I`ve ripped off my trolling motor on stumps out there a few times. I`ve only seen a couple boats with gas motors out there in the last 10 years. One of them didn`t make it back.

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
So I've got some calls in to people. We don't have a restriction so I was told it was the county that probably does, however, the county code is listed below and after talking with the Sheriff it doesn't seem like there isn't any kind of restriction. He's going to try and do more follow up with the Marine Unit and will contact me as soon as he gets more information. If it turns out there is not a motor restriction, I'll make some calls about getting that fixed.
Pierce County Code:
Lake Kapowsin - Except for coaching and safety launches operating under the Kapowsin Rowing Center authority, it is illegal to: operate any vessel in excess of 5 mph, create a wake greater than three (3) inches in height, water ski, operate a personal watercraft or similar vessel, or take off and land an airplane.

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Stacie I did read all that the other month, but forgot. Thanks for finding that again.
edit: I went out to the boat and got the pamplet that I picked up at the WaLakes picnic at Tapps, as that is where I read that. It's in the pamplet at the big board with the lake map and stuff in 'pockets' along the bottom of the board/sign. 'Selected Watercraft Regulations of Pierce County'. It's yellow in color. Open wide open, and it's on tha back, bottom of the first section.

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Sheriff called me back and said basically this is considered a Class A lake and as such is a 'no wake lake'. So as long as you don't make a wake there does not seem to be any motor restrictions.
I'll contact the lands person in charge of that section of the website and pass the information on to him and see if they can't just add that information to the website instead of just saying no motors.
Hope that helps!

RE:NEW MEMBERS - INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Also the words 'safety launches' in that regulation must mean a BOAT operated by the police, etc, during an emergancey or practice.

Tom and Stacie,
You two are the best!!
I can now feel confident that a trip to Kapowsin can be made with the elecrtic motor and I won't have any worries. :>) (Besides catching fish - LOL)
I'm so very glad I found this website.
Again, Thank you.

That's my job, and only job other than catching Bass. I haven't been on Kapowsin for so long. Some day I'll get back there. So far it looks like not for another 8 years.

What up Don and other NEW Inductees.
Since this has become THE most popular thread on the site I thought I would revisit a couple of things. And update my info.
Re-Cycle this thread to get information on new and current members. It's where I go to see who's who and find out what someone is all about. Lots of stuff here.
How about (if you feel comfortable) any one of these, if not all:
Name
Age
Location
Hobbies
What You Do
Favorite Species To Fish For
Where You Fish The Most
How Long You Have Been Fishing
How You Got Introduced To Fishing
What Do You Do When Your Not Fishing
Your Favorite Picture

We are a fishing family around here and we might as well get to know each other a little more. That way if we see another WL.COMer out on the water, we will already have some comradery.
BRAND NEW MEMBERS - this is a way for your first post to be easy. If all the 1000+ members contributed just a little, instead of letting 10% do all the posting, this would be an amazing site for all. Lets here from ya.
I’ll start.
My name is Jeremiah and I'm an alcoh..... J/k I am a Bassaholic
I love to fish. Hence the name fishnislife. I live in Poulsbo in Kitsap County and mostly fish the waters around this area. I do make a couple of trips to some lakes across the Sound during the year, but most of my time is spent fishing the fresh and salt water around here.
I’m 31 and have had a rod and reel in my hand ever since I could hold one. I consider myself a bass fisherman first and foremost, but I do fish for everything. My goal when I see a body of water is to catch the biggest fish in it. I do a lot of studying on fishing and try just about everything. I have fished in many different states across the US including Canada and Mexico. My goal in life (as far as fishing goes) is to catch a Peacock Bass in the Amazon, a Blue Marlin, a Bonefish on the fly in the tropics and a Tarpon.
I work for a PSNS as a Rigger. When I’m not working or fishing I hang out with my wife and two boys (as of now 4 and 1). If I’m not working or fishing or hanging out with them you’ll find me with my buddies laughing are @sses off. That's just a little bit about me.
Hope you guys will follow suit, I’m sure we all want to here what you’re all about.
Don’t be shy.
When you click on my Photobucket don't forget the sub-albums on the left side. Tons of pics to see.
