NEW HEAT MAPS!

Post by Mike Carey » Fri Dec 02, 2011 6:35 am

We've just released a new feature which is exclusively for our Premium Members.

The Heat Maps are a new way of interpreting the "hot spots" data in a visual format, showing members at a glance locations on a lake that have produced higher rated reports. The maps are designed to continually refresh as new hotspots are added.

These maps can be printed out for your fishing trips by doing a "screen capture" and copying them into an image program such as Microsoft Paint. In the future we hope to make a one click print feature for these maps. Here's the link to these maps:

http://www.washingtonlakes.com/HeatMaps.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (only works for logged in Premium Members)

Heat Maps are a great way for members that don't have GPS units to still have the advantage of the Hot Spots feature on WashingtonLakes.com.

We'll continue to look for more apps to enhance our Premium Member's site experience. Thanks for being a Premium Member. If you aren't, you should consider joining. The rate is very reasonable per year and you'll get lots of great additional features not available to the basic membership. Here's the Join Link:

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

yeah, even if you go up to the Premium Members pulldown and click on it there, still redirects you to the forum homepage. Mike? Aaron?

Yes. We have a bug. For now, head to the home screen and click the menu item from there.

If you want to get premium members, then you should show an example of these maps you are so excited about. I know I don't buy anything unless I see what I am getting.

Perfectly understandable. The map is shown on this page, although it isn't noted as a Heat Map, but part of the Hot Spot maps:

Here's a partial of lake Washington:

Actually if you have an Iphone or an android phone you can get a true Navionic App for $9.95 that shows you the actual contours of the lake, and you can mark waypoints, plan a route or mark locations to fish then download the map to your phone and can use this information on the water as a GPS or if you have a GPS unit on your boat you can download the information onto a SD card then upload the GPS 411 onto your GPS unit in the boat. Great App for your phone..

Not sure how that relates to this in any way. Those apps/chips won't tell you where the fish are, what to fish with, when to fish, what to fish for or how to fish for it.
