Fished moses yesterday. Very slow day of fishing for most everyone though one guy was killin it. Most people lucky to have 2 fish at the end of the day. Ice ranged from 2-6 inches thick but you had I walk through the 2 inches to get to the 6 inches. Had the ice start buckling on me a few times underneath my feet and could see cracks forming and running. The walk back was pretty bad. Puddles on top with ice cracking underneath. We need a few nights in the teens to get some good stable ice. You could see the ice getting thinner as the day went on. Be careful out there.

Bow_Slayer, check out: "Fish Lake Ice Fishing" on Facebook. Personally, I would stay away, but there are reports that people are going out

Josh, thanks for the update on Bead Lake. The saddle just north of mineral bay is a good spot. Here are two links to Bead Lake, an old cool looking fishing map and the original planting records for lake trout (you have to scroll down a few screens to find Bead on the planting records).

How far out can you walk. Usually around 35+ ft is where the "bigger" perch were at.

Anybody know the condition of Mattoon in Ellensburg?

Mattoon ice is not good. Most of the lake is frozen but slushy, lots of open spaces. Ther is a pretty good size area on the SW corner that is open and fishable. Didnt have much time but talked to a local that showed up and he says they are still catching the brood stock that were put in last fall.

I think ice fishing may be over, but higher and farther North may prove me wrong... It happens.
