Feeling creative...

Post by HillbillyGeek » Wed Jan 09, 2008 7:50 pm

I was working on some new jig patterns today and came up with the "Wooly Dingleberry Worm". I realize that this is a FLY fishing forum, but this pattern could easily be tied as a weighted fly. Plus, there's no forum for home-made jigs here on WL. ](*,)

Hook = #2 bronze Matzuo sickle
Head = 1/8 oz, black (pro-tec powder paint)
Tail/body = black & olive chenille + glow bead + olive hackle
The tail is flexible and the chenille is wrapped around a core of 10lb firewire braid that keeps it from stretching and adds strength. (Chenille yarn is not very strong.)

That's a good looking jig. It could easily be made into a weighted fly. I might tie one up and try it for trout. If you are using the jig for primarily bass or panfish, you can post it on either the bass or panfish thread. Several guys have posted jigs on those threads.

Thanks for posting that and welcome to WL.com:cheers:

Hillbilly, that is a nice looking jig. In black and marron or purple it would work well for steelhead. You should join our March swap.
