I fish often with a W. W. Grigg rod. They are great rods for not a lot of bucks. You'll enjoy it.

I love to fish cane, but the casting stroke is not for beginners and you will find even the cheapest balanced rod to be better than the old cane rods.
The key is getting a balanced setup, and the starter combos can sure help.
NEVER MIND, I should have read the entire thread. You have a good setup now, so hook up with a couple of mentors and enjoy.
