Very nice looking plug you have there. How did you accomplish the look of the scales on the side of the fish? I can't imagine that you painted the scaling by hand...? Whatever you did looks very nice.:dwarf:

Nice work! Is it a "walk the dog" bait for the top or under the water? Either way, it's awesome.

It ,s almost neutrally bouyant once you put a muskie leader on it just barely sinks .A couple of taps of the rod and it goes into this killer shimmy and darting action.I,m just finishing a 3 peice swim bait ill post when done.thanks for all the kind words

OK, I've got to ask, how are you learning to do this, or should I say how are you making/joining the multi-segmented lures?

I have done really well on this style of lure the last few years, but the Lucky Kraft version is so week it breaks after just a few fish. I would sure like to make my own instead of dumping twenty bucks for two to five fish caught.:rambo:

I also like the glide bait. I use the Manta for Tigers and large pike and it is hot, just because the underwater walk the dog is so good. I have to increase the size of hooks on the Manta to hook up, but .............................

So, talk to us, how are you doing these?

How do you tune these baits? Same as you would any out of the package commercially purchased lure? IE: Rapala, Okuma, Ozuri...etc! Or for that matter, have you noticed if it is important to tune your baits? I mean, I know we fishermen are told for best results to tune these type of baits. But, does a wounded minnow swim perfectly straight ? Very talented looking baits. Approximately how long, from start to finish, does it take to make

Well first off i only tune them if they favor one side more than 70% of the time .Because you are exactly right, wounded baits dont swim in any set pattern for very long .A lure varies on time it takes to make ,depending on the wood , composite or resin used to make the body.I like cedar the best ,i can make a bait from start to finish in 2 or 3 days depending on the paint scheme. I can make test baits out of balsa in 1 day to test new ideas. thanks again for the kind words .Heres some blanks primer coated then finished, the top bait has a new prism tape i found its great stuff

very nice finish work. On the painted pattern, do you have a mesh material that you spray through to get the scale effect?
