Area 11 yesterday

Post by Denman » Wed Jun 17, 2009 11:11 am

Got the boat in the water at Pt. Defiance at 4:30 a.m. and didn't waste any time getting the riggers set for our first run at the slag pile. We were set up to use a green hotspot with a spatterback hoochy. 1 hour later, no bites but lots of fish showing..and..lots of bait. Hmmm maybe they're full? We trolled over to the Clay Banks and joined about 25-30 others that appeared to be having no luck. After another 2 hours of nothing, I moved us over to Dalco and started mooching a cut-plug. 10 Minutes later in 140' of water, bam, fish on. Got it to the boat rather easily at first, but it came unglued when it saw the boat. My buddy was scrambling to get the net out, and of course, it was tangled up in fishing line, rods cupholder etc. The fish ran a couple more times pretty good and when it came to the top again, my buddy had freed the net and it was over. After marking the 9# hen, I quickly got the bait down again and got 1 more nice take down, but it didn't stick. We fished until noon and called it a day. I felt lucky to get that fish beings no others had been checked at the dock up till noon. Sorry for the lousy pic, my digital was forgotten..again.

Nice work!! I think you are one of VERY FEW who are taking them down in area 11 right now. We had not a single bite 2 weeks ago or yesterday. Although yesterday was about the crabs in area 13 ;)
