I live on the puget sound area 13, Anyone have any tips for catching black mouth around the Anderson Island area? I've got a Duckworth 195 navigator with all the electronics and downriggers but need to find out the best areas and depths to fish. Any help well be appreciated.

In area 13 you might want to try Pt. Gibson and Fox island areas. If you 're going to troll they are going to be hugging the bottom between 80 and 140 ft. I would use a spoon and flasher set up to start with. Was out fishing last weekend in that area and bait balls were everywhere. Check out THE SWEDE ZONE, he gives some good tips for salmon fishing.

If your going to fish Blackmouth, make sure you have braided line on your downriggers. It does'nt howl and you can repair it easy. As for depth, bang the bottom, come up 2-4 ft, wait 10 mins, then bang the bottom again. Be prepared to lose a ball or two during a season. Cause if your not fishing the bottom, your not fishing. My favorite depths range from 90-240 ft. Find bait on the bottom and the blackies will be there.

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep working on it, at least until the fall chinook come in. If you see a forest green and silver duckworth with yamaha's don't be shy. Bpete

Bpete, not sure where you live on area 13 but if it is anywhere near the allyn area try fishing just south of vaughn bay about 200 yds off the beach in 80-140 ft deep. Ive done pretty good here the last couple years. and listen to the swede bonics 101 applied!
