This affects those booking halibut trips from Neah Bay to fish the Canadian side. After a fun trip with a well respected Captain in the area late this month I was informed of the nasty practice of our neighbors to north; that of bottom dragging. What people don't understand is that sediment settles and takes hundreds and thousands of years to establish itself...then when people go and drag it (commercials), they destroy the area for a long, long time (takes more than decades to recover). Popular areas I've fished off La Perouse are deserts now, where it used to be automatic hookups on large lings and halibut. It's disappointing. It's so hard to buy a fishing license in Canada, let alone here in Washington. I hope the Canadians figure it out and take it upon themselves to fix this disaster. These are my home waters and it's a problem not too many know about here. It needs to stop. Victoria pumping their sewege into the Strait is just one of the issues. So goes it...Hope everyone had a fun 3-day weekend (when tomorrow is over of course :) KTK

You should see what Albertians are doing to there province. They found shale oil there eon's ago, but with the price of gas and oil going up, its finally become profitalbe to mine it. You would think they would know better but the entire norther part of the state is turning into a strip mine for the all mighty $$$. The rest is being stripped for the material to make ...of all things...the batterys for the Hybrid cars...shame
