Wow...what an opportunity!! I just got back from Constance Bank (check Saltwater Reports later today!!) and it was stellar for halibut! Well, I'd fish Umatilia if Kings are open at your Port and then tons of bass/lings around Duncan Rock...crazy area but tons of fish. Hooked a 60 pound hali there last year going for springers...Bottom fish galore! July 4th salmon...I need to read/re-read the regs on all these fisheries in Area 4. I fish CAMA waters all the time so these WA regs are like trying to read a book in which the edition changes every 2 month...ridiculous. Anyways, fish legal, and have fun, and be safe. Area 4 was my stomping grounds years ago. KTK

thats crazy me and my friend are going out to neah bay on thew 9th for black rock fish and lings. My faverate way to catch them is with a spinning rod and 10-15lb make sure your rod has enough backbone to keep them from the kelp. I use 1/2ounce or 1ounce jigs w/6in grubs on them. on my deep rod I use 50-65lb tufline and diamond jigs or 6ounce jigheads.
good luck maybe I'll see you out there

oh ya I forgot they hang out next to kelp beds and sometimes its difficult to locate a school. the weird part is once you find the school its hard to keep them off your line.

not sure about the whole halibut thing but as far as colors I experiment until I find what works best but there not to picky. I've heard that the blacks mostly feed on bait fish. so white might be the color to use? my buddy swears by pt. Wilson darts but I don't feel like donating 9 dollars to the local tackle shop every time I get a snag.
