Oh yeah! I'm headed to Quatsino Sound, Port Hardy, Barclay Sound, Port Renfrew, Ucluelet, Swiftsure Bank, La Parouse, it's gunna be crazy! Port Alberni is gunna be good too, fishing around Cape Beale. This Island is awesome and there are so many fishing opportunities for the beginner and advacned angler alike. I grew up here. I was 5 years old when my dad was handing me the rod to 37 pound salmon fishing Flemming Island, in the broken group of Barclay Sound...I'll never forget that...this is my home. I love fishing the Island...it's spectacular, and that's an understatement. It's a great place to score coolers of fish and have a great time with the family and kids. Make sure you reads the Canadian Regs and purchase the proper license(s) in your "area" of fishing. To a successful 2008 in B.C.!

Nice...right in the Straight of Georgia. Good stuff. The shrimping up there is off the hook, but the halibut stocks are slow to recover from over fishing and hard pressure earlier in decades past. It's a fun island!!

When will you be in Port Hardy? I have moorage at the Quarterdeck from the 12th thru the 28th of July. If you are in the area during this time just hail the "Julie Lee". I'll be glad to share info.

Sweet! I'm not sure on exact dates yet as I waffle between Port Hardy and Port Alice (access to Quatsino Sound via the SeaSport 24XL -- great boat). I'll let you know as time draws nearer. Have you tried Ripple Pass for Halibut and Lings? I love Pine Island for the yellow eye and the Deserters Group for salmon. Roach Rock is also a must fish. I'll keep in touch stampie and see how things pan out...I will be up there this year for sure.

I can tell you know your way around Port Hardy. If we hook up I'll share my red snapper/yellow eye honey hole. Its close to Port and its always good for a limit of one for everyone onboard. Last year they ranged from 14 to 18 lbs. Keep in touch!

we have been doing the bamfield run durring the last 2 weeks of august.stay at patchina campgrounds and launch out of the public ramp.last couple of years have been unpredictable but yet while the big run has either been late or early, you still go home with some nice fish.i think you can bring back 4 kings and 4 silvers.if my dead brain serves right, llast year avrg for the kings were around 25-30 pds.its just a good way to spend a week or so and just fish.the store in bamfield makes killer homemade pies.just have to deal with 40 miles of he-l to get there.

Here's a little tip that no one really knows about Telegraph Cove...fish right outside the marina...(the history of this area is interesting, split by Telegraph Cove Marina and Bud's side...stay with Bud...it's a fuedal situation...you will be able to tell that the cove is "split" by run down docks...and flashy docks...interesting story behind it all...for another thread...

...We hooked 100 pound halibut right outside the marina and lings 4-5 feet long...no joke. They all clamped on to other rock fish in about 40 feet of water...all the boats leaving the Marina thought we were nuts...but we caught salmon on the jig, lings, and halis...it was amazing...you don't need to travel far...

Fish Bere Pt on the outgoing tide, Double Bay for kings and coho, (go deep for halis, too...some monsters in there...around 200-300LBS)... Bold Head off Hanson Island, Flower Island, "the Wall" ...there is always something that is "hot" on one given morning...I've made about 5 trips up there and have fished a ton...for halibut fish George Bank...they run 20-30 pounds on average...horse herring and speader bar...also off the back side of Malcolm Island...but don't overlook right outside the cove...huge lings...huge halibut...use point wilson darts...if you venture back into Knight Inlet stop by the village of Sullivan Bay...quaint little cool floating homes...also there are HUGE halibut back in those inlets...along with lots of PRAWNS...

...you'll have the time of your life!:chef:

I was wondering if anyone out there has/knows of some info at Farewell Harbour on Berry Island in the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park , Blackfish Sound. I won a trip there at the end of Aug. and have never fished up in that area. The lodge is about a 20 min. boat ride out of Telegraph Cove. Just picked up a Canandian Moocher setup to start practising since that is the gear supplied.
Thanks,Mike

At last the time has come. The boat is loaded and the trailer bearings are packed so the wife and I will be heading north for two weeks starting tomorrow. We’ll be fishing the Port Hardy area and will be moored at the Quarterdeck from the 13th thru the 26th. Anyone in the area during this time just give me a shout on channel 16. We will be on the “Julie Lee” and will be concentrating our fishing efforts around the Gordon and Deserter Group islands.

Best of luck to all while we're gone.

Bob
