Interesting since pinks come in heavy on odd years.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I have caught pinks in even years. But I could not find anything on the WDFW web site about this. As I read the Regs. all salmon fishing is closed in these areas until Nov. 1st. I'm not fishing these waters till then, unless I see in writing from WDFW.

That is Salmon University's weekly up date, they are not WDFW.

Just because most pinks only run every other year in the PS rivers doesn't mean there aren't a few that return on the odd years. On top of that, most other places where Pinks run, they run every year so it's pretty common to run into them out in the blue water. That said, 8.1 is not exactly blue water. They will also cross breed with other salmon, the most common is a "Chumpy". In 16 years of buying and processing fish I can tell you with absolute certainty that there are pinks that run on the odd years. It would not surprise me at all if we started to see more and more as the sockeye runs have diminished. Pinks are very prolific and early starters, they hatch fast, eat fast and haul @$$ for the salt water. It's been a very good survival tactic.
