Pixie spoons for salmon

I was talking to a salmon fisherman who had been to Alaska recently and he said that the hottest lure for Alaskan salmon was a Pixie spoon. I had not heard of them before so I am asking about anyone's experience with them here in the PNW. What colors and sizes might one use and are they useful from shore or bank fishing the rivers. Also, when I looked them up online there seems to be quite a few models. Which model does one choose? Any info will be appreciated.

Pixie's have killed more salmon in Alaska than all of the other lures combined--especially Pinks. They work in both fresh and salt weather. Nobody seems to use them down here, but I can't imagine they wouldn't work just great. I don't fish Pinks, so haven't tried them myself. I do have 1/2 doz in my tackle box in case I get to take my grandson out for them this year.
As far as size goes I like to have several in sizes from 1/4 oz up to 1/2 oz. That gives you lures that you can cast different distances and cover different water depths. Color: silver with red/pink/or orange insert are the goto combos. Pick up a few and give them a fling. Be sure to use a snap swivel with them. Good luck!
One more thing, hooks are easy to switch out to a single siwash if you prefer. Some of the packaged Pixees actually have the extra hook included. Don't forget to pinch the barbs in saltwater!
Pics are of my preferred colors.

They are a great CASTING spoon. Keep that in mind. Nice and heavy so you can huck them a country mile but not very practical in shallow slow moving water. A moderate current to facilitate their flutter, or deeper waters is where they shine.
I have thrown them from shore in the past in the Brewster area fishing for Chinook with good results. Always ran the red color.

I've done well on coho and chum with them in a few areas in Hood Canal.

I think I'll pick up a couple to try this weekend. Not gonna lie, I get tired of throwing buzzbombs knowing that 99% of the people out there are doing the exact same thing

The best way to fish them is a stop and go retrieve. Crank a few times then stop and let it flutter, crank, repeat. The fish will pick it up while it's dropping to flutter and the next time you go to reel it will be "fish on"
