I'm heading up to Belfair next week and need some advice on where and what to use to catch salmon. We'll be up at the end of the inlet in Belfair, and just want to get my son on the water and hook something (pinks, chinook). Would love to know how far out I have to go to find decent fishing and what tackle is working.
Also have a few crab pots I want to drop down. Is there any crab up by Belfair? Or can I drop my pots and fish farther towards the mouth?

As far as I know the closest place you will find pinks on the Hood Canal is Hoodsport. I am not sure if any other river south of there gets any pinks. Sometimes jigging off of Bald point across from union can get you a king.

That far down in the canal is pretty much a dead zone. Your going to have to get around the bend a ways to have much of any chance at a fish of any kind.
