Northwest Fishing Reports

Anyone come up with a cool way to store rigged hoochies and bucktails? I use a foam roller for my kokanee rigs and don't care for the dirt and stuff they pick up from the boat.

For salmon sized I use the 5x7 (ish) dense foam sheets. The squid doesn't have to wrap around it. Terribly expensive from the store but I'm sure there's a homemade option.

Check HomeDepot, Lowes etc. They have sheets of 1/2" thick, 1" thick, 1 1/2" thick foam. I use the 1/2" thick stuff in my modeling and always have scraps so thats what I use. Last time I bought a full 4'x8'x1/2" sheet it was right around $10, so its not expensive at all for a lifetime supply

They sometimes have 1/2 sheets or broken pieces you can get even cheaper.

Hobby lobby has foam sheets in all different colors. If you want thicker then what they have, you can always glue a couple together.....works great. They are cheap.

What about a dollar store pool noodle? They're used for everything else *lol* A bit off topic but we're nearby the Stilly and it's the lowest it's been in 86 years! It looks like ankle deep still water puddles. We won't be fishing the Stilly (or other rivers) anytime soon :(

The noodles work great....I cut shallow slots so the line is protected in the noodle. I like the noodles for in the boat and I use the flat foam sheets for storing in back pack/fishing bag(store in magnum tray/plano).

As for the stilly, I am right on the south fork and it is LOW! Last summer watched people float by in tubes and such all day everyday. Very few floaters on the south fork this summer as the water is just too slow and low and I am sure there are spots that aren't deep enough to float without dragging bottom.
