Boat Launches, Area 11 / 10

I woke my reluctant 15 year old son up early this morning to fish for salmon at the north end of Area 11. This was going to be our first attempt at this trip. Got the gear ready, boat hooked up and headed out to Redondo. But apparently I'm not a real strong reader and missed the Redondo website notice that the floats are pulled out in the winter. Score one for the smart dad.

So my question is this....where do you gentlemen (and ladies) put in for north area 11 or south area 10 this time of year? I figure I have one or two more tries at this before my boy decides video games and youtube are more fun than fishing with his old man.

Thank you.

ditto that reply except I believe the Des Moines sling is closed so the only other option would be Pt. Defiance and it is a real nice one but doesn't take long to get to the areas you will want to be targeting in area 11.

I can appreciate trying to get your son off the *%#ing video games and out into the world. I went through the same process with my step son when he came to live with us. I suggest maybe taking your son out for chum this time of year tho. Much better chance of him hooking up and not the long time in trolling and waiting. If he is anything like my step son, his attention span without constant visual and audio stimulation is about 2 minutes.

The video games effect the brain like a drug. The stimulation and character play are addictive. Gone are the days of kids having imaginations. But I digress.

Get him into a few freight train chum... Hopefully he will get addicted to the tug and you will end up with a lifetime fishing partner.

Thank you, gentlemen. All good ideas. I should have mentioned the boat is a 17' fiberglass runabout. I believe I'll go back to Redondo this weekend without it and study the ramp and shore a bit....see if I can pull that off.

And damn skippy on the video games! Or anything electronic. My goal is that he learns to love or like fishing enough that he'll one day look up from the screen and ask me if we can go hit the water. A dad can dream.
