Northwest Fishing Reports

I am going to a conference in Las Vegas next October. :jocolor: I am planning on going down a couple days early to play a little bit. I was thinking I might pull myself away from the tables for a day and trying a little fishing while I was there. Does anybody have any suggestions? If I do I will either rent a car and just start driving & plunking or find a guide. I have found a couple guide services for Lake Mead, but would prefer to go with recomendations than picking blindly.

Any info from you all would be great!

I grew up in Henderson right next to lake mead.
I fished there every year for 5 years. Lots of
stripper , bass and catfish. I was a bank fisherman.
Your best deal would be a guide. Sorry I cant give
you any suggestions as I have never used one out there.
You will also be close to The Colorado River which holds
large strippers and large rainbows. Also Lake Mohave
which I only fished twice just because Mead is closer.

A few years back my dad and I rented a little runabout boat from one of the marinas on Lake Mead and had a great time just tossing spinners along the shoreline. We only caught largemouth except for one bluegill that my dad got, which was the biggest gill I had ever seen. I can't remember the name of the marina that we rented the boat from but it was the closest one to the dam and was the only marina that would rent to us on such a windy day. The swells were pretty large that day and the boat had seen better days after we were done with it (boat was completely out of the water about every other wave). Mead was a very fun and productive lake when we fished it in the summer.

Just a side note for you. The FLW national guard western division is having a tournament on Lake Mead starting today, 5/7 thru 5/10. There is a couple of Washington guys doing well through the first day, including Ron Hobbs Jr. Don't know if it will help you with your decision, but it should show you what kind of bass are in the lake (at least for the pros).
