My first rifle!

Post by FishBaitThe2nd » Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:41 pm

Well I finally got my first rifle, it was bought with my money but my grandfather made the purchase.

Anyways, its a little bit of an older gun, its a Remington Model 700 .308 with a leupold 3-9x40 scope. Can not wait to use it next season!

Got it for a steal!

Congrats! .308 should serve the purpose. My wife killed her first deer this year with one, dropped it in it's tracks. Enjoy!!

My very first rifle was a Daisy BB gun.Id shoot targets in our back yard. Of course I didnt always hit the targets and never knew where the bb's went until my neighbor came over to tell my dad he had ten bb holes in his window.Dad of course replaced his window. I mowed alot of yards to pay off that window and lost the use of the BB gun.My next piece of weaponry was a Remmington pump 22 lr. I still own it today. I love that rifle. Then came my first real hunting trip. I borrowed a friends savage 30/30. It was a old gun but worked ok with some noise. I naild a 4 pointer in the Whatcom County area while attending Western. That was my last time hunting. Shooting wasnt bad it was the cleaning and skinning which gave me the Heebie Jeebies. I stuck to fishing after that. FBthe 2nd... Good luck with your new rifle.

I saw him on the last day of the season last year, i walked out onto a clear cut, scanned it and didnt see anything started walking around it and 3 does and the buck stood up and darted down the other side of the hill. This was about 30 minutes before dark. :-k Im hoping to get a doe tag for the upcoming season.

Good for you! A .308 will knock down most anything without knocking the snot out of ya! An excellent caliber. Looking at the stock it looks like a BDL with a floor plate?
