Crawfish spots around Lake Washington

Post by qhnz » Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:00 am

I know this question might be asked before. But I couldn't search any. Does anyone know some good spots around Lake Washington to trap crawfish. How to get there? Also will I need a boat to go out far?

I am new to crawfish trapping and this forum. Thanks

I'll give you a few tips as you are asking for info that most folks don't want to share. Kind of like asking someone about the spots they go to pick mushrooms, it just isn't going to happen.

1. I've found that leaving a pot in overnight works best.
2. Crayfish are omnivores so I place pots in amongst the outer weed line.
3. If you find a rock pile, give it a shot.
4. Use fresh bait!

Your going to want to use a boat to drop and retrieve your pots. You can try dropping a pot off of a public dock/pier but I wouldn't recommend leaving it there overnight, it won't be there when you go to get it the next morning.

Now for me I dont use the boat method. I use the dock method. I go down to my favorite pier along Lk Wa. and drop my pot off the end where i'm fishing.I bait it,drop it,and dont pull it up every 15 minutes to check on it.Right before I leave I pull it out.I go to Madison Street pier,Leschi dock,All in and around the Lk Wa ship canal.I use a can of tuna cat food for bait.A boat is nice but it works on the docks as well as long as it is a deeper water dockBothell , Kenmore are good bets too..
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
