Nut Butter

Post by racfish » Thu Jan 24, 2013 12:44 pm

I know it dosent sound proper the term Nut Butter but trust me its unbelievable.I had to do a job in Port Townsend yesterday. Afterward I looked at a waterfront cabin at Beckett Point. On the way home there is a lil place right off the main hiway called" CB Nuts". They use all organic nuts in their nut butters ,peanut butter cookies and roasted nuts. Ive stopped there in the past but now they have expanded their product line. One product I bought was Cashew butter. OMG What a butter that is. Thank the Good Lord it only came in half pint jars and was expensive, but what flavor and texture. I treated my employees and salespeople to all having a lil bit. Ifin youre out that way stop by and try some.Im not making a plug for them,I'm just saying that this stuff was awesome. They make peanut, cashew, filbert butters.

I've heard of nut butter, but I've never had any. I do like apple butter tho, my mom used to make it.

I make apple, plum and pear butters yearly. Nut butter is the same as a peanut butter only with different nuts. Fruit butters are a soft spread to accompanie the nut butter thus making your sandwich experience even better.

If you have a tough blender you can make just about any kind of ***NUT BUTTER*** you want, just dump them in and let it go, it takes a lot or nuts to do it. Back in my greener (Hippy Daze, I know you were there with me in B'ham) I made my own everything. Cashew is good Filbert is better and so is almond. Maybe a little salt for flavor and you're golden.

***how can something that sounds so wrong be so right*** That reminds me Dr appointment on Monday.....

Hey Bodo when you make your nut butter do you add oil at all. Im gonna buy a large bag of filberts on the way home at Cash n'Carry and try it. Ive heard it done just never tried it. I would use a canola oil if I did. From your experience how did you make it. Thanks..

Nuttella, I think, counts as a kind of nut butter too( made with filberts), but it also has chocolate so it's different from plain nut butter.

I've never added oil, most nuts have plenty. The big name brands used to do Hydrogenated oils to keep it from seperating. Not really needed. Some like a sugar too.

And if you can't make it all the way out to Port Townsend, Kingston is the birth place of CB's Nuts, just east of the intersection where Hwy 104 makes a 90 degree turn up to Port Gamble.

Thanks David A for bringing the point about Kinston up. I thought I mentioned that. While on the Kingston subject there is a local bakery in Kingston that makes the best peanut butter /chocolate chip cookies that Ive ever eaten. Kingston is a awesome town.CB Nuts is just one of the great lil businesses around. I love discovering new tastes in our great state. I spend time looking for them. CB is a great find. They are local people with a local business.
