I have a bow mount MotorGuide Xi3 trolling motor and it has taken a beating from some learning curves with launching the boat as the plastic mount has collided with the roller on the trailer a few times from the trailer not being backed far enough in the water when we launch and retrieve the boat.
Yesterday I grabbed the front of it where it has gotten hit and it fell off! Not too surprising as it has taken a few beatings. My question is having that plastic on the side of the trolling motor mount necessary or simply a cosmetic aesthetic? I can see it keeps some water out of there but there isn't much in the way of electronics that I can see that would get splashed in rough water.
I want to make sure I take care of this if I need to.

Re: Trolling Motor Plastic Cover
Sorry to hear that. I am not as familiar with bow mount variety, but others will know.
I was going to suggest you send some pics.

I don't have a picture readily available, so this is the best I can do for now... I'll forget when I get home!
