My boat was damaged in an accident and it brought me to the challenge of finding a shop to fix the aluminum hull. I started to think: should I go to an aluminum shop or specialized boat repair shop. Who would give me the best value for the money spent?
Insurance should cover it but still. Please put your opinion what shop you would take for boat hull repair.
Specify two options if possible.
a)Aluminum hull
b) Fiberglass

To me it depends on the type damage. I got a dent in the upper bow of my Hewes so I contacted the factory(only about 80 miles from my house) they said they don't recommend ever taking a dent out of aluminum because of the metal had been stressed and it would start cracking over time. They say to fill the dent and recommended several different products. If the damage is a deep scratch it needs to be welded and then ground smooth. I would go to a fab shop and have a certified aluminum welder do that type work. With my dent I will be taking my boat to a high end auto body shop because I know they know how to work with fillers and also my boat will need new decals put on both sides and high end shops seem to pay attention to detail more than the $198 paint job guys. Good Luck

I would go to a specialized
aluminum boat repair shop. We have a highly respected aluminum boat repair expert about 2hrs north of Spokane, but with all the aluminum boats on your side of the mountains it should be easy enough to find one over there who knows how to work with aluminum.
I wouldn't let a fiberglass boat shop wash my boat let alone repair it.

Ouch!!!! I think there is a Boat Shop close to the Everett Boat Launch. I would suggest calling the Everett Marina as they could perhaps steer you in the right direction.
